FGC Lugbe Zone

The Foursquare Gospel Church Lugbe was inaugurated on Sunday 13th January, 2002. The name Lugbe Zone was adopted because Garki Zone had pioneered a church before this date at the other side of Lugbe opposite the FHA Estate.

The inaugural sermon was preached by Rev (Mrs) Olusola Idowu. The pioneering work was started by the Missions and Evangelism team led by the then Director of Missions and Evangelism Pastor Chris Aigbokhai and the three founding families who relocated to Lugbe from Wuse Church namely, Dr. and Sister Kunle Otuneye, Brother & Sister Chris Udoaka and Brother & Sister Tunde Oresanya.

Rev and Mrs. Godwin C. Ebbi assumed duty as Pastor in-charge of Lugbe II Church which is the zonal headquarters church on Sunday, 28 February, 2002. The Missions and Evangelism team was withdrawn from Lugbe after six months of intense evangelism to commence another pioneering work in Maitama. Brother Udoaka was the Church Secretary, Brother Oresanya the Treasurer while Dr. Otuneye was the CFM President. These three leaders formed the first Advisory Council members of the Church.

The place of worship was at the Solid Rock International Nursery and Primary school hall. We used the hall for six months before it was partitioned into classrooms due to school expansion. This small classroom space limited our growth and expansion. However, the school authorities allocated a special classroom which was solely used as church hall for worship, bible study, prayer meeting, vigil and other activities.

God is with us, we believed that even if it were one square meter space we occupied and we were alright. It is important to note that we enjoyed these facilities free of charge for over four years until we relocated on June 11, 2006, courtesy of Brother and Sister Idelami who graciously made these facilities available to us. May God continue to bless the family for this good gesture.

The desire for a permanent place of worship has been our goal since inception. Hence, several efforts were made and various options considered until this beautiful site was provided in 2004. Our Mother Church and the Senior Pastor Rev. Babatunde A. Idowu moved into action and secured the land. He immediately carried out sand filing and embankments measures to check the menace of erosion. This was successfully done and the land was ally secured. However, this resulted in an apparent delay as we had to wait for the filings to settle before construction starts.

Construction for the tabernacle started in February 2006 and was completed in June the same year. The new church building was dedicated on the 25 June, 2006.
